'Fallen Soldier - 1966 – 2014'

The Founder of ‘The Non-violence Alliance’ , Lenos Wilson a community member and describe to be “One of Luton’s greatest sons”. Lenos was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. He was born to be a peacemaker and was dedicated to helping people and creating a safe environment for all.

As the first black community leader to address the issue of knife, gun and-gang crime and homelessness
amongst the youths of Luton and surrounding communities. Lenos was a driven individual, who took on many roles to act as an advisor with the police and local authorities on youth violence and crime to bring to their attention that there were ongoing issues that was heightened at the time. Lenos worked relentlessly as an advocate for young people and their families when meeting with professional agencies. He collaborated with different agencies by creating harmonious links between communities and authorities as their views and opinions were being voiced through him.

Lenos experienced and understood the challenges that were faced by young people and their families, who were from different races, religions and cultures to help him understand the difficulties they experienced. He always demonstrated a non-judgemental, non-bias and non-discriminative attitude, which encouraged people to share their stories, seek advice and get the tailored support to meet their needs. His vision was to create a safer environment for all future generations and to educate them on the importance of valuing and respecting mankind.

Lenos would put himself at risk by voluntarily patrolling the streets of Luton to make sure that individuals were kept safe on the streets of Luton. He prioritized this as a major issue, by working unsociable hours and strategizing ways to achieve peace in local areas.

He has made his family, friends and all those who had the opportunity to know him very proud of his success and the legacy he has left that lives on. Greatly missed and never forgotten.
